Mini Volcanoes

This is a fun, simple reaction experiment you can do with everyday supplies you probably already have.  Place baking soda on a dish, combine white vinegar and a few drops of food colouring in a bowl, then use a little dropper to drop the liquid onto the baking soda.  Watch it fizz and grow, then harden to a lava rock-like appearance.

If you want to move beyond the dropper reaction, place baking soda in something cavernous (we made a play-dough mountain with a hole in the middle) and pour the remaining liquid in.  Baking soda and vinegar never ceases to amaze!
